Dr. Montessori observed that during a person’s life, children under the age of 7 learn at the most rapid rate. Thus it is the task of the adults to aid in this mysterious process of learning.
The self directed work, freely chosen by the children, engages their attention because the child is interested in and drawn to that particular task. Children are playful and respond to joy and enthusiasm when given the opportunity to learn a new and purposeful skill.
